A Doll's House Act II

Nora is being unfair to the husband by being flirtatious with the doctor. Her behavior keeps getting worse. She doesn't want her husband to open the letter and find out she forged his name to borrow money and reproach her. She keeps trying to find ways out of the problem without taking responsibility. But she can't run or hide anymore, because Krogstadt's letter is in the mail box and the money is coming due. Torvaldt is an innocent victim of her stupidity and disreputable behavior. Now he'll be a victim of her hysterics, because she thinks about suicide.
This situation reminds me of when kids get bad report cards, and don't want their parents to see them. They try to get home early to get the mail and hide the card. The don't want their parents to know how irresponsible they are. They're hiding the truth out of fear of retribution.

A Doll's House Act I

I think Nora was selfish and greedy. She only cares about money. She is frivolous, always wasting money and never paying anyone back. She squanders her husband’s money on trips and extravagances. She is thoughtless regarding Christine and only her her good fortune. Mrs. Linde was the opposite of Nora. She married her husband to take care of her bedridden mother and brothers. She worked hard and watched her money.

I can relate to the play, because my sister is irresponsible with money. She has no sense of what she’s spending or what it means. She gets mad if I try to interfere. Nora’s behavior reminds me of the economic crisis in the U.S. People borrowing money for trips and anything they want, not thinking about when they have to pay for it. Then finally, one day the debts have to be paid and there’s no money to pay for it.

About Me and ibsen's A doll's House"

My name is Douglas Ioannis, most people call me Dougie. I was born in Guatemala City. I came to the United States in April 15, 2003. I am a sophomore now and am going to be a junior in the 2010-2011 school year at Bloomfield High School. English II CP this year, is a great class. Not only the people in it, but as well as the teachers that handle it. Miss Pettigrew and Miss Santos both possess the qualities needed to be great teachers. The class that I am having now is the most fun but at times it could be the most annoying class ever. Going to school everyday and talking to the people in my class is a great pleasure. The things that we do in that class is basically what most English classes do, such as group discussions, reading short stories to the class, and etc. I like having the time to read novels in our class. I think that discussing it with the whole class makes it more interesting and less boring.

The next novel that we are reading is "A doll's house''. It was written by Henrik Ibsen. It was the first stage dramas of the 19th centuries . It was published on December 4, 1879, and first performed in Copenhagen on December 21, 1879.A doll's house was often called the first true feminist play. The play is also an important work of the naturalist movement. Ibsen perform his creative work on a single stage where he slowly opened a fester, allowing the pus to run with hypocrisy. The ending of the play shocked most audiences of Ibsen's time. Some producers reworked the ending before allowing the drama to be staged. In today's time , "A Doll’s House" represents a turning point in the history of drama.
